11/4/26: I’ve Been Trying to Read Putin’s Mind

It’s a nearly impossible task at any time, of course. But I found myself wondering last night, as the election results confirmed one Democratic victory after another, what effect Donald Trump’s new lame-duck status will have on his bromance with Vladimir Putin.

What must the man in the Kremlin be thinking about his American friend’s ability to continue overriding Congress, ignoring sanctions, and generally enabling his (Putin’s) continuation of his war in Ukraine?

He’ll still be able to bamboozle Trump, of course. But will Trump still be able to get away with their illegal deals? Will Congress reverse or simply ignore the executive orders he issues in Russia’s favor? Will Putin be further emboldened in his dealings with Trump’s envoys when they negotiate the issues of Ukraine and Iran?

And will this further strengthen the burgeoning alliance among Putin, China’s Xi Jinping, and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un?

Stay tuned, folks; this could get interesting. . . . starting with tomorrow’s meeting between Russian and Ukrainian delegations at the White House, hosted by the lame duck’s lame First Lady.

Just sayin’ . . .
