Today, one day after the release of Robert Gilman from a Russian prison, we learned that a second American citizen is returning home: Stephen Hubbard, a 74-year-old retired school teacher from Michigan who was arrested by Russian forces in 2022 for allegedly having served with Ukraine’s armed forces in its defense against the Russian invasion.

So, a double celebration today! Welcome home, Mr. Hubbard. May you know nothing but peace and happiness from this day forward.

That said, I will have more tomorrow on the story behind the release of both Robert Gilman and Stephen Hubbard, as well as the ongoing discussions — about the remaining hostages and other matters — between the Trump and Putin regimes.

For the time being, though, I just wanted to share the happy news.
