Look at the headlines: Russia vs. Ukraine; Israel vs. Gaza; the United States and Israel vs. Iran; North Korea vs. South Korea; China vs. Taiwan; Russia vs. Japan; Russia vs. Germany; the United States vs. Canada . . .

It’s a world at war with itself.

And when all is said and done . . . when (if ever) the dust settles . . . when there’s nothing left but the silence . . . we may be asking ourselves:

“What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or in the holy name of liberty or democracy?”
