8/20/26: Demystifying the Confusion Over North Korea‘s Nukes

America’s relationship with North Korea has been much in the news lately, thanks to Donald Trump’s declaration of trust and friendship toward its totalitarian leader, Kim Jong Un, and his (Trump’s) reduction in support for our actual ally, South Korea.

And one of the most puzzling aspects of the whole jumbled mess is his statement that North Korea is in possession of precisely 57 nuclear weapons. Not 50, or 60, or any approximate number . . . but exactly 57.

Naturally, people want to know where he got that figure. Did Kim tell him? Does he have actual, reliable intelligence to that effect? Or did he just make it up out of thin air, as he does with most of the statistics he carelessly tosses around?

It could be any of those things . . . or something entirely different. And I have an idea of one possibility: it might be a simple matter of his addled brain mistaking these:
