So you’ve finally landed that plum job you’ve been angling for. By all means, go out and celebrate tonight. But don’t be too quick to delete the curriculum vitae from your documents file. Because you never know what the future might bring.
And that’s especially true when it’s a government job — a high-ranking one — in the Trump administration. Because those positions are as shaky as . . . dare I say it? . . .

(I hope I haven’t violated any copyright laws here, but I just couldn’t find a better analogy.)
Of course, I’m thinking specifically of Todd Blanche today, who — through the good graces of a couple of spineless Republican Senators — has now been promoted from Acting Attorney General to actual Attorney General. I hesitate to call him the “permanent” AG, because . . . well, you remember . . .

Right. He only has the job because his hapless predecessor displeased the big guy in the Oval Office and got her ass kicked to the curb. Just like former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem (remember her?). And a CDC director, an IRS commissioner, and dozens of others who didn’t genuflect quickly or deeply enough in the presence of the Lord High Executioner.
And if Blanche thinks his former incarnation as Trump’s personal attorney in certain criminal matters confers any special protection, he need only think about . . . let’s see now . . . there’s Rudy Giuliani, Michael Cohen, and others too numerous to name here, dating all the way back to Trump’s one-time BFF Roy Cohn, whom he disowned when it became publicly known that he (Cohn) was (1) gay, and (2) suffering from AIDS.
So if Todd Blanche has the slightest inclination toward . . . just for the sake of argument here, let’s say, actually doing the job of enforcing the laws and the Constitution of the United States . . . well, he might not want to burn his bridges with any friends he may have in the private sector. Because I hear the job market is looking pretty grim these days, if you’re actually hoping for a livable wage.
Though I understand Amazon can always use a few good drivers.

Just sayin’ . . .
